Apple Maps: Places on Maps.

Apple Maps is Apple Inc.’s web mapping service, replacing Google Maps in 2012 as the default map system of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS. After a lot of criticisms from loyal iOS fans for incorrect data and directions, Apple Maps was created to give businesses and places of interest an opportunity to be listed for iOS consumers and with the ability to correct information and data. It’s integrated into iOS, making it simple to use with other apps and for navigation on your iPhone or iPad.

Apple Maps: Places on Maps provides directions and estimated times of arrival for vehicles, pedestrians, and public transportation navigation. Apple Maps also features Flyover mode, a feature that enables a user to explore certain densely populated urban centres and other places of interest in a 3D landscape composed of models of buildings and structures.

Places on Maps in true Apple fashion is very basic and easy to use. It allows small business owners to quickly and easily add controlled data directly to Apple Maps iOS. You sign in with your Apple ID (or create one if you don’t have one) and search for your business in Apple’s database. If your business is not listed, use the + Add place function to add the missing data.

 

Once you have claimed the profile, you can update the following data on Apple Maps: Places on Maps.

1. Business Name
2. Phone Number
3. Address
4. Map Location (you can move a pin on the map to fix)
5. Place Status (i.e. is the business open or closed down)
6. Categories (you can select 3 top-level categories and a sub-category for each such as Pets > Animal Shelters). You can also suggest categories.
7. Open Hours
8. Business website
9. Yelp page
10. Facebook page
11. Twitter page

A business owner and/or authorized manager of a business may add or edit information about the business. Only businesses whose customers visit them and where a physical presence can be verified. Businesses operating from residential homes, temporary locations, no physical address, mobile businesses, or businesses that have not yet opened.

Unlike Bing Maps, Apple Maps is available in Africa. Data like images are taken from Yelp.com which is not available in Africa.
