UCount Rewards Fuel Voucher Attachment Phishing Email Scam is a difficult to spot phishing email as the sender’s email is spoofed, rewards@ucount.co.za. appearing to be legitimate. The scam is cruel, taking advantage of high petrol prices and the high cost of living.
However, the attachment is the Red Flag.
The HTML, images and layout, is neat however the email is addressed as you.
Note no Client ID.

UCount Redeem SCAM from Standard Bank email address?

The malicious file appears as an FUEL-VCH#.html attachment downloadable html attachment which infect the recipients’ devices with malware. Moreover, these files can be archives (ZIP, RAR, etc), executables files (.exe, .run, etc.), Microsoft Office and PDF documents, JavaScript or HTML files.
When the infected file is executed, run or opened, the infection chain malware download/installation is triggered.
Most prevalent are attachments infecting devices by executing malicious macro commands.

The scammers behind this Ucount reward phishing email are trying to get access to your sensitive information such as passwords or financial details through an attachment redeeming or validating your reward points. The scammers may even be trying to install malware on your device, which can be used for a variety of malicious purposes. If you receive an email that looks suspicious in any way, it is important to delete it immediately and not open any attachments or links included within the message. If you have already been affected by Microsoft Outlook Account Malicious Content Detected phishing email, there are ways you can protect yourself from further damage.
Make sure you keep all of your software up-to-date with the latest security patches and anti-virus programs so that any future attacks will be prevented or detected quickly if they do occur. Regularly change passwords for all online accounts including banking websites and make sure they are strong enough that they cannot easily be cracked by attackers.
Finally, avoid clicking on links in emails unless you know exactly where they lead.
Do not be forced into fear based emotional reactions.
