South African Post Office Phishing Email.

South African Post Office sends warning on a new Phishing Email Scam named Package not Delivered spray mail targeting millions of email addresses whether they are South African Post Office customers or not. The email requests you to click on a Phishing URL to pay customs fees to release the package. Your Package was not delivered because no customs duties were paid. You must complete the payment of (12,99 R). Pay customs fees by clicking on the following link.

The usual Phishing Email red flags are present, firstly the originating email address is not the South African Post Office which makes this Phishing Email easy to spot. In this scam, even though your email address is correct and not addressed to You or the same email address as the sender, it’s still phishing.
The other Phishing red flags are the incorrect use of the currency symbol the Rand. (12.99R)

Use of mouse over hover to detect Phishing URLs. The Phishing URL is masked by HTML, in this case, Send My Package call to action when in fact the URL is https:// pi-arm.co. za/za/index. Php and not https://www.postoffice.co.za.

South African Post Office does not request import duties or clearance fees in advance.
Customs fees on a parcel from abroad, the client pays the fees when they collect the parcel from the Post Office counter.

The South Africa Post Office never requests your bank account number or online payment for customs duties.

The tracking number on the message is invalid when entered into the postal tracking website, or refers to a parcel that was already collected.

The Post Office sends customers an SMS or a collection slip when they have a parcel waiting for collection at a branch.

South African Post Office is informing you with your delivery. This phishing scam prompts you to click on a phishing URL that is masked by HTML.
The usual Red Flags are present. The sender’s email address is not from the South African Post Office @postoffice.co.za.
Note poor Grammar and use of time-based threats to force you into a fear-based emotional response, moreover is the incorrect and poorly placed Post Office logo and incorrect use of the South African Currency, the Rand. No Client ID or name is another Red Flag.
When the email is converted typo plain text, when the HTML is stripped out, the phishing URL is masked by the Send My Package button.

As Christmas nears, the Post Office and Package emails increase.
