Zero Trust Policy

My email client is set to view all emails as plain text and I view all emails with the Zero Trust policy. While these tasks might come across as tedious and paranoid, Zero Trust Policy is recommended by all top Cyber Security Professionals as not only are the spammers getting the spoofed mail to look more like the real deal, they are correlating user’s online details as well as their offline details.

Standard Bank Credit Card SBSA Statement Email Scam.

This phishing scam was easy to spot as I don’t have any credit cards, the email is addressed to YOU and not your email address, there is no client ID, and the account statement code is incorrect.

Standard Bank has updated the email SPF records therefore spam services pick up the difference in the SPF records marking the email as spam thereby blocking the phishing attachment.

Standard Bank Credit Card SBSA Statement Email Scam

Standard Bank Spoofed emails are the greatest number of spoofed BEC emails in my spam folder. Luckily for us, most of the spoofed emails end up in our junk mail folder due to SPF settings from Standard Bank.

Standard Bank: Please be aware that there is currently an email scam targeting Standard Bank clients. If you receive an email advising you to update your bank card details, DO NOT click on the link and please delete the email immediately. Remember we will never send you an email with a link asking you to update your card number, online banking profile, or your banking details. Please report suspicious activity to our Fraud Line on 0800 222 050 or report fraud on: reportfraud@standardbank.co.za
