This is one of the best Standard Bank Phishing Email scams, the scammers timed the email when Standard Bank normally emails monthly bank statements. The scammers cleverly inserted into the subject line of the email, SBSA Credit Card Statement_2023-07-01, which might fool you into thinking it is your card number, which is one of the Banks security indicators like Client name, the last digits of your bank card number.

Red Flags are the Non-Standard Bank Email address. The receiver email is Recipients which is an indicator of spray mail type phishing scam, Banks email you direct with your registered email which normally appears in Recipients. Banks always use your Client ID, Hello Customer, indicates the scammers don’t have your Client ID.

The malicious file appears as the attachment or downloadable links which infect recipients’ devices with malware. Moreover, these files can be archives (ZIP, RAR, etc.), executables files (.exe, .run, etc.), Microsoft Office and PDF documents, JavaScript or HTML files. When the infected file is executed, run or opened, the infection chain malware download/installation is triggered. Most prevalent is Microsoft Office documents infecting devices by executing malicious macro commands.

Clicking on attachment leads you to a Trojan, password-stealing virus or fake website.
